Alex Poorta, Racket Sports Director for Eichler Swim and Tennis
Alex, originally from the Netherlands, came to California to play and study at Saint Mary’s College. She received her bachelor’s degree in Human Health Science. After playing professionally and attaining a world ranking, Alex found her calling in coaching tennis.
She has coached at the highest level including being a national coach for the USTA in 2017 and 2018. After an exciting career of extensive travel, Alex chose to bring her passion for coaching closer to home, now offering personalized guidance to players of all ages and skill levels.
Alex currently still coaches Katie Volynets (WTA #73) when she is home getting ready for tournaments.
Alex is PTR and ITPA certified.

Raul Cossio
Raul Cossio, Former Eichler member Raul Cossio has made himself available for Friday evening and Saturday morning lessons. Raul has over 30 years of teaching experience. Contact him directly to schedule: taraul@sbcglobal.net
Raul Cossio is a PTR Master of Tennis with over 30 years of experience. A former state champion and official coach for the National Tennis Junior team in his native country Bolivia, Raul coached for two years in England before moving to the US in 1995. He co-directed the AITA tennis academy in Mountain View and for the last 20 years he partnered with Zalles Racquet Sports in Foster City to run and direct a year-round junior program.
Raul attended UC Berkeley for his M.A. in Education. He lives in Palo Alto with his wife and two daughters, Natalia Isa, who also swam for Eichler for several years.
